WCR Committee Responsibilities

STANDING COMMITTEE

BYLAWS Committee

Overseen by President

The function of the Bylaws Committee is to ensure the chapter Bylaws conform to the National Bylaws.  In addition, the Bylaws Committee is responsible for amending and distributing the chapter’s Standing Rules.  Rights of membership are granted, or limited only in the Bylaws.  Standing Rules are for administrative convenience only.

  • Work with the President to review the Chapter Bylaws and to make any necessary local amendments (after a vote of the membership as described in Article XIII) that affect the dues structure.
  • Submit any amendments to National WCR for approval. Local bylaws in conflict with the model bylaws will not be approved
  • Change local bylaws to match any changes or amendments made to local bylaws by National. These are automatically binding:  simply notice to your members, there is no Board or Membership vote.
  • Members must be notified of any changes to the local or National bylaws.
  • Develop and review the Standing Rules annually with the President and President-elect. These must be voted on and approved by a majority of the Governing Board EACH YEAR.
  • After approval of the Standing Rules, the membership must be notified and provided copies.
  • Rights of membership are granted, or limited, only in the bylaws, never in the Standing Rules which are for administrative convenience only.
  • Work closely with the Parliamentarian if the Chapter has one.
