2007 WCR BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
In 1938 when WCR was started it was to make sure that women in the industry were recognized and paid when they produced a transaction. Over the last 70 years both the organization and the members it serves have grown significantly. This year
When I was growing up most girls weren’t encouraged to toot our own horn – if you did a good job your boss would recognize your efforts and you would be rewarded accordingly (or so we thought). So, for a lot of women, it’s still not easy to tell others about our accomplishments and to nominate ourselves for an award. I want to thank the WCR Businesswoman of the Year candidates for doing just that – nominating themselves. Each of our candidates are significant contributors to the industry and the greater community. The committee didn’t have an easy decision! I hope that next year even more of you will recognize your own talents and submit your applications.
Now, for a little bit about our winner:
1. Describe a recent business initiative that yielded outstanding results.
I’ve gone back to basics by practicing sound and proven principles of working with buyers and sellers to effectively list and sell more real estate. At the same time, I have learned to delegate more tasks and authority to other team members.
2. Describe how you're doing business differently from 5 years ago and what benefits that yielded.
Within the past 5 years I have greatly improved my personal goal setting skills. I have learned to fine tune my goals by breaking them down into annual, monthly, weekly and then daily goals. By tracking the results and making adjustments, I have not only met but have actually exceed my goals.
3. What recommendations would you make to someone new in the industry?
